Wharfedale Monitors

About to finally make a monitor purchase and got to listen to some that are in my price range ($300 - maybe $400). I checked out 4 brands. Wharfedale (Diamond 8 Series), Roland (DS-90a), M-Audio (BX8) and KRK (RP). The guy at the shop was cool enough to demo them without me even having to ask. He went through all the different models one by one using different styles of music and so on...

I liked the Roland but out of my price range. The BX8's kinda lived up to all the reviews I've been reading - too bright, kinda so so, really loud though, it was just gnawing at me with too much highs and they were too big for the size room I have. We narrowed it down to the Wharfdales (8.2) and the KRK (RP6). I was really into the sound of the both of these. What struck me was the size of the KRK's and how well they sounded. (Please note this was the first time hearing really 'good' monitors) And Wharf's sounded incredible. I need to double check on the price though. Not sure if it is $259 a pair for the Wharfedales and $299 for the KRK's. For that price I might get the Wharfedales. They sounded really even too me and not so boomy on the low end and I could actually hear the mids, where I couldn't hear any from the BX8 and very mild on the KRK. The Wharf's seem more than enough, volume wise, to fill my apartment and the size isn't so huge. I am also open to picking up a Sub in the future if I even find that I need one.

Any comments on these choices? I haven't been able to find any reviews here on the Wharfedale Diamond 8 Series monitors so I thought I'd ask. Also I was hoping to test a pair of Alesis MK2's but they didn't have them and I was able to finally see them at a Guitar Center (but not test them) and they are bit too big and little bit too much money for me. Any suggestions? I will be mainly editing dialogue for video/film and possibly adding music (created and mixed by someone else) and producing Podcasts and narration type sounds. I may create my own music in the future but for now my music creation doesn't go beyond the simple sampling of my own record collection and making quick loops and mixes for my own personal use/entertainment (nothing to sell).

Thanks for any responses.
