WGAw #registrations per year (data)

I wrote the WGAw about how many registrations they get each year for screenplays, etc., if they could sort out how many of the registrations are for short scripts versus feature screenplays, etc. Trying to make some sense of the figures I see tossed around on forums about how many "screenplays" are registered with WGA each year. I got the following reply from WGAw today by email so I thought I would share it with fellow writers. Just sharing the numbers, the info:

From WGAw:
"The WGAW Registry registers over 75,000 pieces of material per year. Keep in mind that registerable material includes scripts, treatments, synopses, outlines, and written ideas specifically intended for radio, television and film, video cassettes/discs, or interactive media. The WGAW Registry also accepts stageplays, novels and other books, short stories, poems, commercials, lyrics, drawing, music and other media work. The WGAW Registry does not monitor the different types of material registered annually as the material type or medium is strictly assigned by the author for his or her own reference and has no bearing on the actual registration."
