Westworld

OK, was well aware of it, but never saw it before now.

Why would you give superior hearing and vision to a robot which is only there to be beaten in gunfights all the time?

(Among, the many, many other silly things.)

Dude, you don't question camp. That movie kicked massive arse.

With Peter Fonda as the Hero, what can go wrong? go wrong? go wrong? Sorry, that was Future World. Same movie... sort of. It was good for what it was, but yeah, I think it got some of that 70's funk on it.

It looks like it is about to be redone in 2009 according to imdb.

A great film! The Terminator was just Westworld redone. Many talk of the energy from an on-screen presence that just sucks the energy from the frame...and all eyes go to that character. Yul Brenner as the Gunfighter was exactly that. The way he walked, the way to held his gun, the way he simply stood and did nothing. And then, after he died (in real life), commercials appeared with him saying, I'm dead now - learn the lesson that I didn't...don't smoke. Heavy. (Sammy Davis, Jr. did the same thing.)

I remember those commercials, along with him eating Grapenuts before he died.

I get it if people find it campy and appealing that way. I get if you just want to watch Yul do his thing.

But seriously . . . "incredible"?

I might not use the term incredible, but yeah, it was a pretty good movie. The only thing I didn't get was the robot rattlers.

I hope when they remake it in '09 that they'll just stay in Westworld. Everytime they cut away to Roman World or Medieval World, I was like, "Come on, come on, let's get back to the real movie!"
James Brolin's best on-screen moment of his entire career: "I'm shot!"

I really enjoyed Future World as much as West World. It gave a broader view of Delos, as well as the nefarious schemes. West World was just a rehash, done Western style.

Michael Crichton proves you can pretty much just use the same story multiple times and still be successful. Jurassic Park was just a rehashed version with Velociraptors instead of cowboys. I still liked them both.
