Not sure if its in the correct section,

I'm wanting to make a western, does anyone know of any sites with tips on. That cover anything to archtype characters/framing/motifs/etc?

I've been reading through the 'west fest' section on this site. Just wanting to read alot more, Sorry for the spelling mistakes

Here's a good place to start as far as identifying all your tropes/truisms. Kind of awkward to navigate, but it has a LOT of conventions in all film (including Westerns) that can at least get you going.

Tropes

My other suggestion would be to watch a LOT of Westerns. Study the great Westerns and, to an extent, perhaps the not so great - make your conclusions as to what worked and what didn't. I personally love Westerns and find them to be fascinating and nowadays you can find them in all sorts of form fashion - classical Western, the post-apoc Western, space operas, etc.

Be careful with westerns, however. They don't seem to fare well in festivals when stacked up against grainy hand-held black and white coming-of-age lesbian movies.
