Western Digital now FW800 Portable

[bikefilms]

Western Digital is finally "on it" for adding FireWire800 to their portable hard drive lineup of Passport products. Their past attempts at portable-hard-drive fame using USB 2.0 ONLY, led to uncountable problems with my clients who demanded their use. Some computers would not power the USB 2.0 products. Now, there is a WD hard drive worthy of our mobile video production needs. LaCie, G-Drive, etc. look out!

Full disclosure: I own and use Western Digital, LaCia, and G-Drive products.

About time, now that Apple has eliminated their FW400 port on their MBP.
I didn't know a FW bus could power a 500gb hard drive. Must be 5400rpm.

Too bad they don't have a power adapter for when you don't have computer for power
