Wendt X4 Connections

Could someone explain me the purpose of the additional XLR connector on top of the mixer? Thanks in advance.

Did you guys mean a connection to a D-Tap battery via XLR?

Yes I agree it looks like a 4 pin XLR to add an external power source, that can come from a D-tap or any other suitable battery source.

The pin wiring on the XLR should be 1= -ve 4= +ve

In the manual, it's stated the factory coax ext. power is 9-18 V. I would assume the XLR/4 the same.

Makes me wonder is there is an issue with the Hirose power connector and or internal battery supply? As a Hirose to XLR cable would make for an easier solution, rather than effectively doubling the height of the unit to include a built-in XLR which happens to face the output side of the mixer.

It is XLR power, added by a rental company.
