I know this forum has members from all over the world, countries where Mr Pilkington and his ridiculous brain are widely known and countries where he is perhaps less of a celebrity.
For those who don't know, in short, he is an English man from Manchester who worked at a radio station in London as a producer. He ended up producing Ricky Gervais's radio show and Ricky discovered what an amazing person he is.
He's not a character, he's just a stupid idiot to put it bluntly, although some think he is a genius.

Big fan of Karl, far funnier than Ricky, even funnier than Steve. He is a genius idiot. Because he's not just an idiot, he arrives at his opinions after consideration. Unintentional comic genius. The animated version of the radio show is my favourite. Especially Monkey news. Haha
 
I was lucky enough to work a job last year where I could listen to music all day. Such a pleasure to get paid to listen to Karl and his idiocy. Oooooooh chimpanzee that, MONKEY NEWS!
 
You triggered a youtube pilkington binge today. Looked up, four hours gone. Still had to force myself to stop. And I had stuff to do today. Damn you youtube crack. I'd been YT free for months!
 
I'm pretty sure that Karl is putting on an act each and every time, and that its completely intentional. The fact that he blurs reality (in the vein of Ricky Gervais or Steve Coogan) is what makes it so funny.

I think some of it might be an act, but on the whole, that it isn't.

I agree. Especially to begin with, it was completely genuine. For the most part it still is, although in more recent escapades I think elements of his personality have been purposefully exaggerated for the sake of making money. Either way it's still hilarious
