Weirdest thing with exporting for DVD

Weirdest thing.

I shot my short in 24PA, edited it in a 24PA timeline, but when burning it to a DVD and watching it on my TV the motion had this weird flickering quality to it. Just as an experiment I moved the project over to a 29.97 timline and exported it from there, then burned it to a DVD. Now when I watch that on my television the motion is nice and fluid, not choppy at all.

Bizarre.

24PA lays down frames like this....

A B C D D A B C D D A B C D D (every fifth frame is a repeat of the fourth to embed a 23.98 stream within a 29.97 wrapper)

playing this back natively, without processing the footage to drop every fifth frame, will result in stuttery looking footage.

So that's why edited in a 24P timeline the exported footage had that stuttered look to it?
