weird sound

I just got my dvx today and noticed a strange sound when the camera was off.

While off, if I move the camera so that the lens is aimed at the floor, then the ceiling, then the floor, then the ceiling I can hear a faint clink-clank sound from within the camera.

If I turn it on and do the same thing, the sound is gone.

It sounds like some piece of plastic is lose in there, does anyone else have the same problem?

What should I do now???

You are F*ING KIDDING ME!!

I can't believe what I just read. After all that talk about using the search feature, and even the *most frequent questions* FAQ thread that was posted!! WOW!! I'm astounded!!

Resevoir-don't have a cow, man!

Balrais-read the begining of Barry's book to find out what the click is and be thankful you have been spared a hazing ritual.

JY Blue,

Why did you post "anyone wanting to have some fun, check out the "what's that click" question in the hardware section."

when you have no sense of humour?

You're going to need to learn how to fit in.

wanted to have some fun, just felt resevoir's post was pretty harsh. maybe i deserve a little hazing for that one, i dunno.

Come on, man. There are two appropriate responses to the the "what's that click" question:

1) (DVXuser.com endorsed) Razz the guy in a lighthearted, funny, and creative way.

2) Answer the question honestly.

This is harsh and out of line. Please be respectful.

I wonder why nobody, ever, reads the op manual. Funny, if you give a piece of equipment to someone without the book, they will ask for it. If they have it, they will nag you with questions which answers you can usually find on page 3 of the manual... The rattle thing (apart from faq here) is described in the book. Together with how to use the audio inputs. Or the remote. Or anything else. Read the book!!!

They shouldn't even include a manual with these cameras. The number of people calling to ask for one would be much fewer than the questions people ask about topics that are in the manual.

Take the book out of the box before shipping another one.

DVX Manual p.68:

"A4. When the VCR mode is established or the power switch is at OFF, a rattling sound may be heard from the camera unit due to its structure. This is not indicative of malfunctioning."

Please understand if my original question seemed a little premature, I got my camera yesterday and only made it to page. 44 in the manual.
1,000 apologies all around...

lol Sirius,

I think I'll PM him about that now.

Actually I try to do one better and ask if it's ok to keep the Mini DV cassette inside the camera while filming...

My apologies. My post wasn't meant to be harsh or impolite. I was laughing my arse off actually. I guess I thought it was just ironic. Sorry.

Answer to next question before its asked: No you should not mix tapes. Use Panasonic tapes exclusively.
No, its not ok to just use up those final 3 Maxell tapes you have from Sams club...

thisiswells, if you're talking about Michael Caporale, then, yes, I've seen him. I also know about ten different Michaels living here, some of them good customers.
