So, I shot about 15 bands last week, my first week of shooting with the 5dmark2. For some footage, where I was mixing it with EX1 footage, I converted both to 29.97 ProRes422 for multiclip editing.
However, for some single camera stuff I just left it as the H.264 files as I wouldn't be 'editing' it, in that I wouldn't be cutting it up - leaving the video as one continuous take. I would however be colour correcting and all that stuff, but that'd be the final step in the plan. For that, the rendering, I had it set to PR422.
I've been rendering out the first of three songs, so far, and something weird has happened in two of them. The song will, for a period of about ten seconds, freeze for a second then skip to a different part of the song. It will then freeze again and come back in sync.
So far I've been able to cut the weird bit out and join the two halves together and they become in sync, I can even join the through edit together as it's fine in that sense.
This means it's not a camera freeze/drop out error b/c if that was the case then that section of the footage would be ruined, but as I said I can cut the problem area out and join the footage fine.
There's therefore some part of the post process that is screwing up the video for this small period, for some unknown reason.
Has anyone else had this happen and/or know what is going on? It's weird and I hope not a regular occurrence.
