Weird motion on blu ray player :(

Hey guys,

I´ve just bought a Sony bdp-s490 blu ray player and whenever I play videos it doesn´t look like it´s being played in a weird motion that it´s almost video like. On my LG TV I had to DISABLE the film mode so it would play video files with film like motion. I know many TVs and players have this "faux film" option that actualy looks like video instead of film but I cannot seem to find it on the bdp-s490. There is an option on "Screen" called "Cinema conversion mode" and I´m almost sure this is it but it cannot be turned off...I can set it to either "auto" or "video" and none of these works. Does anyone have any ideas? If I can´t fix this I´ll return it for sure.

Did you get one of those 240Hz TVs? Might want to turn that mode off (should be able to).

Ideally you should be able to send the 24p stream to the TV if it supports it. I wouldn't think a menu item called "Conversion" would be it though, because it's not really converting anything.

Everything is perfect with the TV set. If I plug my laptop on the TV via hdmi and play a blu ray disc it plays perfectly.

Does the "cinema motion" need to be set per each input? Sometimes that happens.

(And some LGs don't turn off "Tru-motion" even if you set it to "off," but that doesn't look like the problem here.)

No, you just set it to "auto" or "video".
LG´s tru motion is really set to off because everything else apart from what is being played on the Sony BR player is perfect.

Well, then it might be a player issue; what to do about that, I don't know; not familiar with that player.

But just for giggles, have you tried the Sony player in the same HDMI port which gives you a good result with the laptop?

Or, is the TV in some kind of "PC" mode when it's connected to the laptop? This could be -- it wouldn't be operating as a TV but as a monitor, and there wouldn't be any "Tru-motion" -- or shoudln't be, anyway.

Are you sure you didn't buy the Peter Jackson edition bluray player??? It's probably playing only at 48p and converts everything to 48p.

Guys did you see what I did there hahahah did you see??? Silents.........silents......

p.s. it's my silly humor :(

What happened was that when you plug a new device into the LG tv the settings are reseted for this input (horrible idea by LG). Basicaly I had to turn off tru motion again and set up all my image preferences for my device. The weird part is that this doesn´t happen when I plug a new laptop via hdmi...so go figure.
