Weird clip shortening issue on FCP and Motion

I just upgraded from Final Cut 5 to FC7, and now when I make a clip slow motion, it makes it slow as requested, but shortens the clip to fit the original length of the 100% speed clip, so only half shows. It did the same thing in Motion, but even made it so I couldn't extend the clip back out to access the part of the clip that had been cut off.

This is dumb, is there some setting I can adjust to stop this?

There is a check box in the change speed dialog window that says "ripple sequence". UNcheck it.
