PAL, because there is no single AP unit in Russia for sale, not that I really need NTSC though... 3460$ 1 year official Panasonic warranty (yes, here it is 1, not 2), no DVX book :undecided no Magic Bullet, no rebate... oh well :lipsrseal

I'm loving it :) Didn't have time to get everything else I wanted today, so before I do it, I wanted a little advice. Yes, I've read practically all I could find on this site, for which I'm thankful, I just wanted to make sure:

Tripod: I'm leaning towards Manfrotto 503, but there is also Vinten Pro-5DC. Anyone knows anything about the latter?
As for Manfrotto, which legs should I choose to go with the 503? Personally, I was thinking 525. These are the kits available and prices:

Then there is, of course, 501 with the same choice of sticks for about 100$ less, but you all keep saying that 503 is significantly better.



Mic: Wanna get a good shotgun for now, then we'll see... The usual choice - AT897 or ME66?


And, finally I'm thinking about getting a mattebox for it, right away. We have Cavision dealer here. How is their 4x4 with rods system and rubber shade?


I'm probably forgetting something, but I can't wait to stop typing and get my hands of the DVX again :evil:

EDIT: Oh, 1 more question. I'm ordering DVXuser batteries and the book/dvd. There is an option not to ship the book and download it instead. Does it... ummm work? It seems to be a Paypal feature, not necesserely seller's. I would love to be able to download the book and the dvd instead of waiting for them to be delivered to CA, to my friends and then here.
 
I love my manfrotto 503 head, You pay the difference between the 503 and the 501 head... but is a good invest.

The mic I don´t sure, but I bought the AT897 and the difference with Senheiser mic I will invest in another gadget like wide angle lens, matte box, filters, etc.

The matte box question is no easy... Cavisión is a good choice and you can attach a Cavision follow focus, better is Chrosziel and Formatt FM is the best cheap choice.

Um, don't know where you read about a "download" option -- there is no download option. The book and dvd are physical items, not available in electronic form.
 
It was somewhere during the PayPal order checkout registration, Barry. I figured it was just one of their general options and it had nothing to do with this specific item. But nevermind, ordered the delivery here anyway.

AVR, thanks, that's what I'm gonna get - the 503 - just didn't have time today before the shop closed. Any advice on the legs? 525, 745, 755, 351?
 
Its better to actually own the book in physical form anyways. As soon as I get my pelican case i'm gunna pick N pluck a section for it.
