Wedding videography question

Don't know if this is the right forum to post this in but I've received no answers else where. I live in the Toronto area and someone has approached me to video some weddings with him. What is a reasonable hourly wage? How much is fair to rent my dvx for per day or is it better to have a a wage with me alone and one with me and my camera. Do people charge their full rate when travel is involved or a lesser rate or no rate at all?

Thanks.

im in toronto area to, im with u bro..i just did a wedding yesterday man, charged 110 bucks cuz it was my first one, and i only had the dvx with me, and of course a tripod...very shitty tripod tho

I get $25 an hour shooting b-roll.

My "boss" tells me that's a little low, so sometimes he pays me extra if he's getting a good deal from his clients.

Eh, I seem to have misread your post. I thought you were looking for a second camera operator. Anyway, I sent you a PM and my offer still stands, regardless.

You have to keep in mind what the day rate for renting out a DVX is. You also have to consider that since your trade is specialized, your time is worth quite a bit as well.

Weddings usually range, but go anywhere from 20/30 minutes to an hour plus. Usually I charge $100 for the wedding itself if an hour or under. Anything more than that, including the wedding reception goes for $50 per additional hour.

Hope this helped!
