A Friend of a friend saw some of my video work and decided that she wants me to fly to Barcelona with her wedding party to shoot their wedding. Most likely I will be bringing one camera. I have very little wedding experience, but I think thats what she is looking for. She wants something with some style and substance.... not your typical 60i wedding video. She already agreed to pay for my Hotel and airfare, and I am meeting with her on sunday to discuss details/pricing. The problem is... I am just a hobbyist and don't know what to charge for this service. I will be taking a few days off from my day job. If anyone out there cares to help a fellow DVXuser out please either PM me or respond here with some advice. Thanks in advance!!! - T

There are a few details to consider. Because you are doing a single cam shoot the time (editing) and money is significantly less than if it were a two or three cam. That is for the ceremony of course. If your staying all day to get the good stuff, (pre ceremony, pic shoot, cutting of cake, etc..) and editing it into an aristic piece then your back up again. What I would do is google wedding videography in your area and see what the market bears in your area. It varies from place to place. I've seen an all day shoot with edit (highlight, doc style edit) go all the way up to 11,000 (new york) and as low as (which seems to be average) 1,500. As you can see it's very different, so ultimately you need to find out what your areas prices are. If you have a second camera use it. You'll be glad you did. It makes a huge difference. One can be your safe cam, and the other can be more risky and go in closer/move around if needed. There is allot to consider when shooting a wedding. Do the homework so your not kicking yourself later.

Expect a long, long day. Since you're a hobbyist, I would charge what you would make working those few days plus $200 per hour spent on the project.
