Como's back. back again
As some know, my sista got married.

It's a big file, so feel free to download it!

My second wedding video I have done, and this time I edited it mostly. I think I shot a couple of things, but seeing as I was IN the wedding, Kegan filmed the wedding.

He showed up late so he missed the ceremony, but he got all the shots after that.

Shot on the A1, SD. 24p.

It's interlace 'cause I made his for DVD, so on TV you don't see the lines. I just forgot to export it without applying a deinterlace.

Enjoy!

Ahem, just for clarification purposes I'll state the reason I missed the wedding haha. I don't like to make excuses, but this one feels pretty justifiable.

I missed the wedding because Mapquest gave me the wrong directions, based on the address Robbie gave me and ended up about 30km away from the church. It was a rural road and pretty hard to find. It was half an hour before the ceremony was set to start and my GPS wasn't helping in the least.

I headed in the right direction and the TOTALLY unexpected happened. I had a car from the oncoming lane, drift into my lane and almost hit me in a head on collision. I was basically run off the road and sitting in my car, swearing, late and shaken up I decided to continue on...except my car wouldn't move.

I drive a rear wheel car and the passenger side of the car was in the ditch. There was so much snow, there wasn't any damage but everytime I tried to accelerate the tire would just dig a deeper trench into the ditch.

I called CAA and they said that it would take over an hour to get to me and considering I was in the middle of nowhere, it was hard to point them to where I was. Apparently GPS coordinates mean nothing to them. That was pretty unacceptable and at that point, all I really wanted to do was get there for the kiss.

I put my car in neutral, steered my wheels towards the road, took off my suit jacket jumped out of the car and prepared to push. I cleared the snow from the shoulder where the rear wheel would go if it was back on the road. I figured since it was rear wheel, all I had to do was get the rear wheel back on the road and my car would be able to get drive the front wheel out of the ditch.

Thirty minutes later, I finally get the wheel to move onto the road (damn car's are heavy when you're pushing by yourself). It's now 3:00PM and the wedding has already started. I flagged someone down to find out exactly where the wedding was, jumped back in my car and drove there like a madman. I got to the church, put the camera up, hit record...just in time to see the registry being signed. A lot of the footage is shaky, partially because of my nerves, anger for missing the ceremony and just general dislike for the way the day turned out.

Just thought I'd add my story to that eventful day:),

D_Dub, I have two packages, really.

One is roughly 700 bucks (500 for shooting, and 200 for the edit), and they get two videographers, 2 DVD's of their special day.
It's basically just a montage of the day, edited to music. The video runs from 5-7 minutes. I end with thank you's, and kind words from family members.

The other package runs well over $1500, and that is the longer version. The ceremony, the reception and speeches, and it's edited like a normal wedding video would look like.

Thanks for the interest. Did you see this video?

Robbie and Kegan, nice work on the wedding video. I'm interested in the soft look of the lighting. I'm pretty certain you couldn't control the lighting in the church, so I'm curious if you used special scene file type settings (I'm unfamiliar with the A1), or if you did something in Post to make it look soft. If you did it in post, would you mind sharing your method?

Some of it was done through scene file settings (used VIVIDRBG - slightly altered), but most of it was done in post. Blew out the whites, crushed the blacks and I'm not too sure what else he did.

Robbie will be able to better tell you,

Kegan

I did blow out the whites, and crushed the blacks. I white balanced some of the footage using the 3-way color wheel.

I applied a Soft Focus, and a Vignette, for that nice, soft, dreamy look.

I used FCP studio 2 for this video!

Thanks,

Robbie

I noticed the vignette. About the soft focus effect. Do you know how to do this in After Effects. I assume its something similar to duplicating the layer, adding blur and toying with blending modes.

You can do that. I'm not quite sure of how to do this, although I could play around and eventually get it.

Kegan had to go home, and I couldn't get a hold of his A1, so even If he shot it HD, when I captured it in the end, it would've been SD, seeing as how I don't have an HD camera to use, or capture with.
