wedding slide show pricing

Another thought -- try to do your early business for friends and family. Then you can really be inspired to give it your all no matter what you are paid, or if you are even paid at all. Build the experience and the portfolio with those projects. Then charge what you want for future clients.

Wouldn't touch this for less than $400.00. And that would be with basic transitions and no real movements on the pics...

Another thing to consider that might make this project worthwhile is using preset effects. I'm not sure which NLE you are using but in PPRo you can "record" moves and effects.
Design a couple, maybe four moves, say left to right, right to left, up to down...then drop in the photos in your timeline and apply a different move to each photo. You'll maybe have to adjust a bit for each photo depending on image size and composition but it will speed up the process greatly.
Just an idea...

I'd also explain to your friend what you normally charge for this type of project and ask them not to tell others that you did it for so cheap.

Also take Ryan's advice and pick out the best 50 shots for a four-five minute video. Better yet....tell your client you can only do 50 and have her pick them out...:)

I just did one with 60 pics and let me tell you, the scanning was the easy part. Many pics were not in stellar condition so I had to go into Photoshop and clean them up with the clone stamp tool. I then did all the photo presentation segments in After effects and put it all together in PPRo. I did it for my daughters preschool and they gave me about $600 worth of free tuition. I presented it at their graduation ceremony and everyone seemed very impressed. I used 3 songs for the photos and I did a music video from footage I shot at the school. People are already inquiring about hiring me. All told I was happy to do it and I did learn a lot.
