Wedding Lighting

Hey guys,

Quick question, I am looking into camera mounted lighting and was wondering what minimum wattage you would suggest for filming a dark reception with only strobe lights? Any help would be appreciated.

Most use NRG or Frezzi for on camera. Whatever you get, get a dimmable light. There will be times when you need 10watts and others when 100watts is necessary.

As always, it depends. Consider the distance between camera/light and subjects, shutter speed (subject movement), iris/aperture setting, camera gain (acceptable noise), use of diffusion/filters (softbox/gels), etc.

I agree with jnatalie, for wedding work get variable intensity 100 watt light (or two) with battery belts.

Indeed, please tell us about the litepanel cost/light output comparison... (and remember, this is filming a dark wedding reception where you won't always be within 10 feet) We all pray that someday LEDs will have good price performance ratios!
