Website intro video

Hi,

I've just got a website built and my builder is asking me for an intro video to put on the front of the site.
I'm in talks with various people and i'm also developing my own projects. I dont think ive got a good enough video to put on.
I was thinking of making a basic promo video for the region I live in, and show casing it on my website? Is this a good idea, for a film for my site or should i be looking at doing something different?

Any thoughts, opinions welcomed.

if you're promoting video production services then the most important thing should be something showcasing your skills. with that said, it's a good idea to give him some of your best work in order to highlight on the site, if you dont feel your work is up to parr then either hold off on launching the website until you get some footage or demo reel, or use a cool flash animation as a placeholder until you get the footage to replace it with. at least that way he can build the site and have a space already built where he can just swap out the flash or the image for your video demo reel once you get it.

post a link to the website what you have so far and maybe others will be able to suggest more creative work-arounds.

What is the website for? What is the websites intended purpose? These are the first questions that I would ask myself. The intro video should be the welcoming element to your website, and relay a specific message to your visitors. There must be a reason you want people to visit your site, keep them there, and keep them coming back for future updates? Right?
