hey guys, so im not really a web guy but we get by. Our new site is up and works fine on macs, but on pcs we are having some problems. On the buttons that open into a new window we get a white page that pops up in addition to the new window. If there is any pc people out there that are web savy that could check it out and give me some pointers id really appreciate it.

the site is www.deadkidz.com

thanks

I think the problem is in your javascript code. In your link you are telling it to:

<a href="javascript:window.open('girl_dancing.html','never_forget','height=300,width=350')" target="_blank">

But there is no <script> in the <head> section to tell it what to do. Like this:

function MM_openBrWindow(theURL,winName,features) { //v2.0
window.open(theURL,winName,features);
}

Try copying the above code and placing it after this section. Example below:

function newImage(arg) {
if (document.images) {
rslt = new Image();
rslt.src = arg;
return rslt;
}
}

function MM_openBrWindow(theURL,winName,features) { //v2.0
window.open(theURL,winName,features);
}

Good luck!

i tried it but im still having the problem. Im testing it on deadkidzfilms.com.

did i do it right?

thanks for your help

Ok, try this. Get rid of the target="_blank" command. There should be no target because the javascript is telling it to open new window.

Make this:
<a href="javascript:window.open('girl_dancing.html',' never_forget','height=300,width=350')" target="_blank"

Like this:
<a href="javascript:window.open('girl_dancing.html',' never_forget','height=300,width=350')"

i made the change to deadkidz.com but its still happening. I made the targets _blank cause at least the white page that comes up is in a new window instead of replacing the old page.

any other suggestions? Thanks for your help, feel free to throw in the towel whenever, but if you have any ideas that would be awesome.

Sorry, just woke up. Ok, try this.

The problem is still with the javascript and the example I gave isn't working because that's from my website and the links on my site are different. My links look like this.

<a href="javascript:;" onClick="MM_openBrWindow('your-web-page.htm','','width=520,height=390')">

It has the "onClick" command and that refers to the "MM_openBrWindow" thing, from earilier. And the href is pointing to just "javascript". Yours is different. Yours also has mouseovers happening so it gets more complicated. I'm sure it can be done I just don't have time right now. Must go teach. Be back in a few hours. Good luck!

Hey -- anyway to force the .mov to play 1.5x in size from this line?

And maybe a way to force the WHITE page to open be black???

Here's my line:

<a href="javascript:window.open('movies/Aquarium264.mov',' never_forget','height=300,width=533')" target="_blank">QT7version</a>

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions. I did the whole google thing before i posted here. I don't really know what I'm doing so even though i found examples it really helped with someone taking a look at my html and explaining it to me.

there're about a zillion and a half pages with javascript examples.
Yup, but if someone dosn't know scripting/programming then that won't help. If you don't know Greek and I hand you a Greek dictionary, it's still all Greek. :cheesy:
