Web video platform: what do you recommend?

Hi! The topic says it all (almost):

I'm pitching a web solution for a Norwegian festival. It has to be a solution that lets you upload and play videos on an external site.

If you could provide me with some more alternatives, I'd be more than happy. Please give pros and cons with all your alternatives

Examples:

BRIGHTCOVE
pros: high-quality video, complete nice-looking web solution
cons: expensive (?)

YOUTUBE
pros: easy to use, largest user base
cons: bad quality video, not very slick design

STAGE6
pros: great video quality
cons: can't embed channel to another page (?)

Thanks for all your help!!! :D

I use Stage6 in my blog and it works ok. It works the same as Stage6 though in that they must already have the DIVX driver installed. If it is not installed it prompts them to install it.

Anything that requires installation will automatically cut your user base in about half. I like the video quality of stage6, and actually went through to install the codec, but it crashes my browser every time i try to watch, so i don't bother with it anymore. These are issues you'll have to really think about.

If you want to reach the widest audience, use youtube. Yeah, the quality isn't the hottest, but I think youtube's complete and total devastation of the internet video market has shown that users aren't *that* finicky about quality. And there's ways to make youtube videos look great.

There are also ways that you can use FLV encoded video and embedded video player to stream your content. Same way that youtube does it, but this way you can encode your own FLV file to get the best mix between bandwidth quality.

I use this along with ThickBox on my page.
