Web Series Release

We are in pre-production for a web series and I'm trying to get my head around how to schedule the release of episodes. If we had an established audience then it would be a pretty obvious once per week or something similar, however at this point we don't have one. So my thought would be to post most of it at once and then if we drive someone to it they can consume the entire season vs. only one small portion.

Does anyone have any experience / opinions on what works best for a new show?

A general background -
  • 10-12 Episodes (we may break a few down into smaller chunks when we edit) / Approximately 30 minutes total run time.
  • All episodes will be done before posting any. We may have a few "teaser" items to use to promote during the post process
  • First Try - this is a first attempt and we are expecting it to suck at some level. This is more "getting one in the can" to learn / have it done.
  • Limited Advertising - as above this is a dry run, so we won't be push incredibly hard but we'll go through the process of promoting at a small level.
  • Self contained - we view this as a stand alone show, that if we get any kind of interest we would / could do more seasons.
  • Goal / Success Point - Getting it done and generating an audience for the next production (vague).
Any good lessons learned from doing a web series, or better yet horror stories?
