Web quicktime upload 16:9

I'm done with the first edit ever on FCP with some imagery of Marrakesh. Now I like to upload it to the web. I've shot in 16:9. The only quicktime export option which seems to works is PAL 16:9 which is rather big with 720px width (resulting in a file size almost 200mb, the 75% quality looks bad so I put it to 100%).

If I choose another option it always looks skewed. They don't seem to consider my 16:9 format. Is there a way to export it somehow to 480px width, whit right shooting ratio?

File - Export - Quicktime Conversion...

Change to BROADBAND HIGH

Click the OPTIONS button and set the size to 480x270 (what I use for NTSC)

The resulting file will be somewhere near 5 megs per minute.

Good luck,

Are you exporting using "quicktime conversion" or just "export quicktime movie"? You should use "conversion" as the Capt. said if you are changing the size etc. of the video.

You can
A) set your own size on export under options
or
B) open the movie in QT after you've exported it, open properties and change the dimensions there. Just divide by 16 and multiply by 9

480 ÷ 16 X 9 = 270

So just change it to 480 X 270 in QT and save.

Thanks a lot. Is there a good site to upload .mov files? I tried it on virb.com but they recode it very badly.

vimeo, but you want a high quality large version because they will compress it to flash for you

I don't know of anyone that will upload your QT file and host it streaming for free, so all that time spent getting a good QT for web was wasted. Just export high quality QT and upload to vimeo.
