web designer

cool little "title"
Anybody know a decent web designer. I did the webpage for the place I work
at now, but honestly, I don't want to go through another design effort
when I have so much other work piling up. Thanks for any suggestions.

What kind of content do you want? How often do you want to update it?

There are many Content Management Systems (CMS) that will make setting up a decent looking website fairly easy. On my site, I used Plone. You need a decent amount of access to the server, however, as it runs on the Zope application server, instead of MySQL (that most hosting companies provide)

Other decent CMS include Xoops, Joomla, and Drupal.

But of course I didn't actually answer your question... :) What I'm getting at, is that you don't necessarily need to pay a professional web designer to make your site look good. I too can build a site by hand, but I don't have the time or the desire to do so, so I used Plone instead. It made my life much easier, and it didn't cost a thing.

Owen - not that involved, just some mouseovers and crap. here's my
sad site: www.ultrix.us

I usually write code by hand but I don't want to mess with it. Let me know
if you have any ideas, going to email Brice's buddy as well.

Oops! Sorry guys, looks like the freebie era is over.

who cares, you see some of the stuff they come up with? Im probably gunna throw down 100 bucks for my 86th Street Studios logo.

goldyn - I like the smuggler's site, thinking of something along those lines.
I possibly have someone who is looking into doing a logo for me, a cool dood.

Hey Kyle -- did you do the full sail logo? If so, I'm wondering why they went with an airplane. I asked some of the folks down there a while back and they weren't quite sure. They said it was actually a mystery to a lot of the students and faculty.

Ha I did some stuff with it while I was down there, but that logo on my site was actually for an airline parts company. Funny the similarities never donned on me until then. I too don't really know the real meaning behind the plane. Rumor I heard was it was a student project a kid did back in the day and they liked it so it stuck. I think it's ghey. :)

Heh! It's the art deco plane look that made think it was the Full Sail logo. Ah well. Good stuff nonetheless. You're probably right about the student project thing... a boat would just make too much sense I suppose.
