We got a babysitter - What movie should we see?

It's been a couple of months since our last babysitter, so seeing a movie out is a big deal. What movie should we see:

- Seperate Lies
- The Constant Gardener
- Elizabethtown
- Domino
- A History of Violence
- Flightplan
- In Her Shoes
- Everything is Illuminated

Thanks,

Chris

I honestly have yet to see one person who didn't like it. And out of 'em all only my brother has seen Firefly with me.

My next choice would be Domino or History of Violence, but I doubt either would suit your wife better than Serenity. I dunno... see Elizabethtown :undecided or Constant Gardener, though I haven't seen it or Flightplan yet.

Wallace and Grommit and the Were Rabbit was hysterical with adult humor mixed in as well.

My vote would be for W&G or Serenity unreservedly. Everything else has a "but" attached to it for me.

Enjoy your night out, whatever you guys see!

So glad you got to see W&G!!!

Serenity is interesting because I think it is so well made on so many levels. The writing alone is really smart and quick. I really like Joss Whedon's visual style as well, so seeing him tackle a feature was a blast.

My wife and I were/are huge Buffy/Angel fans and just really enjoyed Serenity. There weren't a lot of people at the showing we saw on Saturday, but everyone seemed to really like it. I haven't talked to anyone yet that didn't at least enjoy/like it. Like I said, aside from W&G, I can't recommend anything else right now like that.

If you want to have a lot of fun, have a bottle or two of wine and go see The Fog. It might be more fun if you have a little buzz going... no, I doubt it. Strike that.

Serenity

I'm not a fan of Buffy/Angel, but I loved Serenity. (and of course firefly before it)

well since serenity wasnt even on your list here are my thoughts on what you listed. it all comes down to what kind of movies do you two like or what mood are you in for tonight?

- The Constant Gardener (I heard is a great serious dramatic piece)
- Elizabethtown (I haven't seen, but if you like Crowe's work I'm sure you won't be disappointed: rom/com/dram)
- Domino (I personally loved, dragged my wife and a friend another female to it and they both loved it too, it's highly stylized, sometimes violent, fun, and over-the-top, stay away though if you can't stand quick edits)
- A History of Violence (This was a great one, my wife liked it too but turned her heard during all the violent parts, which are nasty realistic, good dark movie, moves slow until it starts getting real twisted, raw and gritty)
- In Her Shoes (My wife and one of her friends saw it and they said it was fantastic, definitely a chick flick but if you can handle that stuff you should see this one, nice and sweet)

The best review I've seen of Flightplan was this:

Why didn’t they just call it PANIC PLANE and then not make it?

Yikes! That's like 3 swift hits in the nuts!

But it's been making the box office bucks, so the masses must be gagging for it!

Definately History of Violence... very cool flick

Heard amazing things about wallace and gromit.. have yet to see serenity, but I was a fan of Firefly, so I'll see it soon for sure

I just spoke with the little woman and based on a variety of things (advice here, theater times, astrological charts, etc.) it looks like we will be seeing "A History of Violence".

Thanks for the suggestions everyone,

Chris

Flightplan was horrrible. What a waiste of ****ing time. I heard History of Violence was horrible too. But I really wanted to see it. I should stop listenting to people because I heard Flightplan was excellent.

A History of Violence? Awww, man, take her to something that'll get her in the mood - you might get lucky!

You might consider The Dukes of Hazzard. :)

Flight Plan was good, I have no idea what the critics are smoking, it had a plot that was more believeable than most of the tripe that is coming out. And it didn't have some crazy twist that didn't make sense. It plays within it's own rules...

I enjoyed it.

Serenity is very good.

Elizabethtown was decent though nothing special.

Wallace and Gromit, my favourite comedy (close to my favourite movie) of the year.

Corpse Bride, meh..

History of Violence, amazing, see it.
