Waveform in Timeline?

Is it possible to see the waveform of an audio clip in the timeline like i can in vegas?

In the Menu go
Final Cut Pro -> User Preferences -> Timeline options, at the left

That method will only effect timelines created after the change is made.

To see the waveforms on the current timeline, just hit Command (Apple)-Option-W. Hitting the same key combo again toggles them off.

Be prepared for some sluggishness as the waveforms have to be rendered whenever you scroll through a previously undisplayed portion of your timeline.
