Waterproof/resistant microphones?

Hi all,

I am going to be filming a lot of on the water events throughout the course of this summer and I need to be able to record sound similar to using the onboard mics of the camera (HVX200). The waterproof cases get wet and can occasionally be submerged up to a couple feet under water. Currently I have a number of lav options that work great but many of the setups really call for a directional mic hardmounted to the waterproof camera housing. Picture the camera in its waterproof enclosure hardmounted to a canoe/kayak and capturing sound. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I used small freezer bags. Wrapped the transmitter with some paper towel to absorb any droplets from any leaks. Then sealed the bag with duct tape.

The lav mic was enclosed with the fingertip from a nitrile glove and that was sealed with duct tape.

Use gaffer tape if you have it. I didn't.

Keep the transmitter pack as high as possible, and try not to bury it deeply under clothing. And be aware of any rubbing from the movement of the person paddling.

I was always on a chase boat, not a kayak. My own boat has a 4-stroke Suzuki that's VERY quiet at kayak speeds. In fact, Suzuki had to modify the ignition switch. You have to turn it all the way to "off" before you can turn it to "start" again. Apparently owners were trying to start engines that were already in idle and damaging their starters.
