Watch This Space... Sound DVD ANNOUNCED!

Sweet this is a fantastic idea guys - ordering one now! I've always wanted pictures of how you should hold a boom but now I get video - even better! Looking forward to this gentlemen.

eta ---ooh and lav techniques. I need these. Mine are rather crappy and reading about how you should do stuff only goes so far.

Nice job, Barry, David and co.! That sound stuff is kinda sorta important in a film. So kudos to putting this together! I'm sure it will be excellent in the same vein as the previous DVD's in the tutorial series.

So does this video explain why you were using that JVC camera? Or is that another announcement at a later date?
Unlike our prior products, this DVD is totally format-agnostic. We used all manner of cameras in it as either demonstration props or actual shooting, from the HV20 to the FX1 to the HD100 to the HVX200, with most of the greenscreen being shot on an HPX500.

This disc is about sound recording techniques, to address probably the single element that filmmakers struggle with the most that keeps their productions from looking (and sounding) truly professional. Doesn't matter what camera you shoot with, if your sound's bad, your production looks bad. We set out to teach people how to never have to settle for bad sound again.

No. The kind of camera used is pretty much irrelevant to the whole thing, by design. It's about SOUND, not cameras.

very cool guys. And yes, sound couldn't be more important. Ordering now.

Will I get a sweet new t-Shirt too? I'm currently wearing my guerilla shirt

Ah nice work fellas! I've been looking for something like this...So when are we going to see the Lighting DVD?

Ok now it makes sense. The JVC stuck out to me as to maybe there was a reason to use that specifically. But yeah you can get good sound with any camera if you know what you are doing. Which I will after I watch this!

Glad to see what look like some very practical examples of how and what to do in specific situations. Looks like it was fun to make too!

Now how about the t-shirts?

We are all about getting you to where you know what you're doing!

Oh so many videos you could produce - it isnt all that often that I actually know what I'm doing :)

Just noticed this includes stuff on post too! Yay! Jay Rose's book on post is great but sometimes just seeing and hearing it done makes so much more sense. Three hours seems like the perfect length too - lots of info, but I could sit down in an afternoon or evening and watch it. OOOH!! Just realized I have a few projects coming up (non-paying, personal fun ones) that I may be enlisting a friend or my wife into playing the role of soundman. They'll actually watch this. Not a chance they'd read a 300 page book about it...
