was I ripped off on this brevis?

I bought a brevis recently used from a dvxuser member. The batteries are not connected inside and are instead rolling around inside. The wires running to the motor are not attached and the switch will not move. The diffuser has scratches all over it. Is this what a brevis is supposed to look like? I see no way of getting this thing to even turn on in the present state.

sounds like you may have been. was this the one that was selling recently with no achromat? sorry for your luck. have you tried contqacting the seller about this?

unless all that was described in the ad for sale.... you got taken.

Im sorry to hear it, hopefully the seller will make it right and give you a refund.

I hope so too. I have contacted him via dvxuser and paypal's resolution center. Here are some pics of the inside and the broken switch. I removed the achromat to get a clearer picture. Is this what your guys' adapters look like?

Wow, that is definitely damaged goods. I mean, the wire is in direct path of the diffuser. Not to mention the marks all over the diffuser. That switch looks to have been pushed in. By the way, if that position (with the switch facing directly up, is how you received the package, that is the incorrect way to store it. It should be turned to the side so the switch wont take any pressure from the case. Obviously, loose batteries are not standard.

I hope you can resolve it. Having purchased from a dvxuser, I'd hope you'd be able to work this out easily. I also hope it wasnt a new member who you bought from.

That is not at all what it's supposed to look like. If you can't end up getting your money back contact cinevate and see how much it would cost to repair, depending on what you paid it still might cost less than a regular brevis.

That adapter will need a rebuild. The good news is that we can do it and from the looks of things, including a new CF1Le (cuz that one has to be scratched) it would run under $200.

Its f'd up that it came like that...but you can't beat that deal...and you're not even the original owner...that's some serious customer service. That thing looks FUBAR'ed

i agree, think Dennis is doing you a nice favor. Take it and forget about the seller if he's not returning your messages. Take note, however, of the sellers name ( if he is on the boards ) and notify the admins.

Thanks, Dennis that is a really good deal. At this point I would rather just return it considering it was shipped to me with the redrock rather than the Cineavte achromat. I'm witholding judgement for the moment, If I don't here back from the guy by the end of the day I'll reveal his username as I have noticed he has been selling some other stuff and I don't want other people to get gipped as well.

Damn that is an awesome deal. Take it, and walk away with a newly manufacturer refurbished unit.

Thumbs up to Cinevate customer service.

***EDIT*** whoops, i see you've posted you'd rather return it due to the achromat. Good call. Well, it was a nice gesture on cinevate's behalf.

Damn, thats some lame a$$ $hit. Dennis could probably get you his full name too if you decide to go collect your money with some friends.

Now lets not get carried away, things like this should be solved with words...like "I'll f****ng kill you, you f****ng a**hole of a thief!". OR you could prove the guy you're bigger than he is and just send him a gift...like his kid's ear on a nicely wrapped package.

You should post this sucker's name on the "market place" section so more people won't lose their money.

It's not the end of the day yet folks. Sure it's a crappy situation, but not everyone is on DVXuser all day, everyday (like me!) so the guy might take a little longer to respond. Of course there's no excuse for sending a damaged adapter, so let's wait it out and see if it gets resolved.

The OP is doing the right thing by attempting to resolve it with the seller first and if no correspondence is received, by all means...his kid's ear on a nicely wrapped package is my top choice at the moment. :)

Yeah I'd really like to know ASAP if he's got other stuff for sale. Doesnt really matter how he responds (I hope he works it out with you for your sake of course!), but I dont want to deal with him if he's going to ship crap like this.

The seller did get back to me today. He said that the unit must have been damaged during shipping and arranging for Fedex to come by and inspect it. I'm going to hope for the best on this. If he wants to reveal his identity he can reply to this thread. Otherwise I'll keep this private unless it turns out that there was any intent to deceive.

That does not make total sense. Although shipping could allow some damage to occur, if the package was not properly contained, the fact that the batteries are sitting inside the compartment, free to bump around and scratch the GG, as well as potentially tug lose the wire connections, means that he did a poor job getting the unit to you.
