Just went to Higher Ground last night (The latest Warren Miller film..) It was insane. They shot it with super 16, and it was absolutely stunning. Has anyone else seen it?

i heard it was shot in HD, if you check the apple website thats what it says. Where did you see it, i've been dying to see it.

I saw it at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert hall here in Portland. The actual film in the credits said super 16, and most of the shots of people using cameras in the film, were of people using arri super 16 cameras. So I am pretty sure it was shot with super 16. I think the high def part came in during the post production process. They probably edited at high def....

Apple website says the traier is in HD. I downloaded the 1080p version (downloading anything to feed my new Dell 2405 :P ) and it sure looks like film to me.

hey your right, it was shot in super16, i guess i should of known as that is pretty much miller's film's styles...

"So Haskins upgraded the regular 16 cameras and moved to all super 16 equipment. Super 16, he says, “translates really well to the 1080/24p frame rate and aspect ratio of high def,” Haskins says. “I didn’t need to spend $125,000 for an HD deck. I could import everything in a 24-frame timeline, and it remained 24p across all the systems.”

sometimes those varicam's and sdx900's can have a very beautiful film look through post sometimes tho ;D

Random fact: For Higher Ground, they shot 26.6 miles of film.
Hmm, so what's the cost of super 16 film? I wonder what the total cost alone was for the film stock?
