Warranty issue

Some of you know my pathetic "gray market" camera story. What it comes down to, is I have no warranty. I received a great letter from Jan Crittendon at panasonic today. It uses pretty strong language towards the vendor who duped me. The letter states that I should get a refund, but I doubt that the vendor will comply with that. What I hope to do is get them to pay for for a 3rd party warranty. Anybody have any experience/suggestions there? Can you get one even if your camera isn't new? (I bought it in August) Any insight would be helpful.

Re: Warranty issue

Just a guess and maybe Barry Green might have better insight but I think once they have your money they could care less if your DVX blows up and takes your hands off.

Refund, customer service or compensation are most likely words not in their vocabulary

Re: Warranty issue

A retro-active warranty....unlikely, if not illegal to sell, even if they wanted to do it for you (which isn't likely to happen).

Re: Warranty issue

True, but I may have them over a barrel with the fact that my invoice clearly states a warranty is included.

My lawyer (Also a NYC cop) tells me that if they don't give me some measure of satisfaction, he'll be happy to drop by and visit them. I also have an issue with the two crappy lenses that were included. They don't really work with the camera, even though they are not defective. I asked Mike (my lawyer) what he though about that and his response was like this "That's like a Hummer coming with 13 inch tires. The tires are fine, but they don't work with the vehicle. You should get a refund, or an exchange for the proper lenses"

We'll see.
