Warranty Info for DVX

Hi everyone. I am trying to get my DVX fixed while still under warranty. The camera was a gift from my dad, and he does not have a proof of sales as he purchased it off of E-bay. How do I prove to an authorized center my cam is still under warranty? Also how can Panasonic help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Without any paperwork, I think you're out of luck.

You need the proof of sale in order to establish a warrenty exists, I assume this was a "new" sale on eBay.

If he purchased it new off a dealer from e-bay, it was probably gray market. That means you don't have a warranty. It's not what you want to hear, I know. A lot of these dealers sell cameras that are intended for sale in other countries, but imported back to the US, often through Canada. They are not authorized dealers.

Here is a link to Jan Crittenden's profile. SHe is a dvxuser member and the Panasonic poroduct rep for the DVX. PM her and give her the serial number (under the eyepiece) She'll be able to track it down to see what's what.

SIgh... I just wish we had better news. In case you are interested, the reason I know this, is because I'm in the same boat. It seemed like such a good deal... :'(

I hear you. My dad and I had no knoweldge of the "gray market items." This is a lesson I learned, but I still love my DVX and wouldn't trade it for anything. I will suck it up and get it fixed if it comes to that, just like I would a loved one...  ;D
