I can't see how thats possible, I think in the USA you guys use CDMA rather than GSM, other than that the radio functions in the same way.

in fact if you look at your cell phones manual, it should have the radio examination QC checks signed by the radio authority, all systems that output RF signals must be classified within the regulated bands. At least thats how its done here in the UK, I'm assuming something similar happens over there too.

Radio interference should not be strong enough to affect your RAM or harddrive, or even cause "crosstalk" on your motherboard.

Try testing on other PCs, including running other software and see if you get it to crash, if it does, then you may have something.

But its a new one to me, I've never heard of such a case.

The US and Canada (whereTheComo is) use both CDMA and GSM.

But no, the cell phone isn't gonna crash the computer or any of its software.

this has nothing to do with the cell phone and everything to do with the volatile filing system the Mac is based on.

My friend just had to shell out $1300 for a new logic board in his G5 only to discover that his hard drives had been wiped clean (registry files deleted) when his Mac crashed. He lost over 600GB of projects. When he asked Mac what had happened they simply answered that when the machine crashes without saving the registry file, everything is lost. so much for "safer than a PC..."

I believe your cell phone getting a text message just as your mac crashed is nothing but a spurious connection - it looks like it's connected but there is no causal relationship between the two events. Just like there is no actual connection between the decline in the number of pirates and the increase in global temperatures (http://www.venganza.org/about/open-letter/)

huh? even if the file structure is volatile, the actual data is held on the Harddisk which is polarized by a magnetic head, even without power it does not lose the data, so even in a crash I assume although there maybe some data corruption the vast majority of that data should still be readable.

The registery file simply holds settings and other vital system (and not the actual Data) and user parameters (at least with a PC), even if the MBR is corrupted the data should be still recoverable.

I don't know, the MACs and PCs harddrive can't be that different.
