Warning about the Diamond Doorway Dolly...

I just wanted to give all my fellow filmmakers a warning on The Dimond Doorway dolly. This is one of those items that will remind you of the Carrion Monitor incident. They promise you will receive the item in 2 weeks but then you never hear from them again. You have to bug them CONSTANTLY...they will ignore you or give you excuses like they are back ordered, or a storm destroyed their factory, or employees have been out sick etc... ultimately if you're lucky enough you will receive your dolly many months later and that is only after you threaten to post a negative feedback on Ebay (they suddenly contact you pretty fast and ask you to post a good and positive rating for them to send it....and sure enough you get your dolly a few weeks later) That is why you will see 99% positive review on ebay! More importantly DO NOT DO BUSINESS with them outside of ebay or you WILL NEVER receive your item period. Omari (known as David as well) will give you a small discount if you purchase outside ebay....it's a scam! You will NEVER HEAR from him again...and when you contact the company through ebay they will tell you that this is between you and Omari...even though it's the same person! ...I have contacted several of their ebay purchasers and all told me they had to go through hell to receive it and most had to wait an average of 4-5 months and threaten to post negative ebay feedbacks before they got their dolly...some of them even posted negative feedback and had to revise it to a positive to receive the item!!!! Do not believe the rating and reviews....they are all forced lies!

They go on Ebay by the name Diamond*dolly. They will assure you and promise you that you will receive your items within15 to 18 days. They also sell centipede style track wheels and cranes...stay away from all of their products! They have good prices but it's seriously not worth the amount of hassle! Pay extra a go with a reputable dealer instead. We have yet to receive our dolly and tracks that we ordered 7 months ago from Omari.... I am pretty sure we will never get them. I just want to make sure no one else gets scammed by him again.

3xm...I don't know if that's you who posted over at reduser...if not that's you, then you're the second person i've seen in one week to post about these guys. i'll post here what i posted on reduser.

i'm (slowly) getting into the manufacture of dollies and other support equipment. at one point i called these guys and it turns out their literally less than 10 miles away from me. i talked to the salesman on the phone and he would never actually meet me to see their equipment. he always said "we're sold out"...he was nice enough, but he was always shady when talking about actually seeing the stuff.

if you'd like, i manufacture a 4 wheel steering dolly, and i'll actually ship it to you!!! for much less than the matthews equivalent as well. we manufacture bazookas with elemac fittings and a bowl mount as well. all billet aluminum. the dolly would take a few weeks though. here's some (bad) photos of our prototype. the new version will be more robust and more refined.

Doorway Dolly

Doorway Dolly

I can't speak to the quality of the Diamond Dolly or the engineering, as I've never had any experience with it but, being in the film equipment business, I am aware of the dolly and the company's presence on Ebay.

I've posted on the forums here about our product and have had such a wonderful reception within the community so I wanted to respond here. It seems particularly appropriate, as the responses we get from our customers tend to be the exact opposite of the response posted here.

You can see our products at www.blackbearstudiosystems.com. Our customers consistently comment that our dolly is in the Matthews/American/Modern league but we've both priced and engineered our product to be for the independent filmmaker. And our dolly does things that even Matthews et al don't do--roll directly onto track without having to remove the pneumatic wheels, convert from a standard two wheel steer to a four wheel steer, etc.

I posted one of the latest customer reviews on the boards here the other day at http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=189363&page=4 as some dvxuser.com posters were inquiring about reactions.

At any rate, I'm available should anyone have any questions.

i bought a diamond dolly (locally) and it is a decent piece of gear for the cost 675.00 cash on the spot. I tend not to think of them as scammers because there product was as described. Is it as good as a dolly you would pay 3 times as much for? not really. But at a fraction of the cost it is a amazing tool and i am pleased to own it.

I've had really good luck with diamond*dolly as well. (3 weeks of waiting though) But the product is solid for only $130. Matter of fact, I posted a quick review on it

Ahhh thank you! I'm glad I saw this post. I have been looking for this swivel bearing for my crane. The video you posted just happened to have it...
