War Of The Worlds

Strikingly bad.

But we know you are moaning to hear yourself moan Coltrain. I wasn't strikingly bad nor was it bad. It was a soundstage covered in blood and redvine during a night sequence. I found it a more surreal visual than it being so different I started to cry
about it.

Off topic:

I've been around more than the average joe; Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Philly, Alaska, Mexico and driving across the country from GA to Ca. I've lived on my own and was emancipated when I was 16. I've started my own company and have spent the last 8 years raising a family. I've experienced drugs and death and life when my son was born into my arms. I've skated, played guitar in a band and almost drowned in 20' big surf. I flipped a Jeep end over end in Mexico resulting in Concussion and spending 4 days 'lost' in 'La Mancha' if you will. I have walked the rails in Aluetian Storms in conplete darkness while lowering boats for a fishing trawler on fire and dead in the water. I've been arrested twice and have seen someone stabbed twice in my life in front of my very own eyes. I've had a 2 guns pointed at me while one being 2 inches from my temple while I took a car and the other while another person tried to take from me. I've been beat down in bootcamp and and have told more than one boss to take the job and stick it up their ass.

John, when I've been reading your posts, I have been looking at that Walkin avatar and unfortunately associating it with your voice. But when I read the above, I was totally seeing your face from the 10,000 posts video. And digging it.

I had to laugh when Coltrain commented that he's 22 and can't imagine that he'd change his opinions very much from now on. Bwahahahahaha. Whoooeeeee! Youth is indeed wasted on the young.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but one thing I've noticed is that Cruise keeps getting credible 'this is his best performance yet' reviews. I've got to admit with all the Enquirer coverage of him lately, and him leaving both Nicole Kidman(!!!) and Penelope Cruz(!) that maybe he's getting kooky and desperate. But, maybe he's just playin' all of us.

Yeah; I had to set the record straight when Coltrain implied I needed to get out of CA. It's like 'Dude, you have no idea....'. I'm not all knowing; it's all relative anyway and some 50 year old thinks I'm full of **** anyway I am sure. There are dude's (and chick's) on this site who have experienced far more 'life' than my ass I guarantee.

I am completely in denial that this TOM CRUISE KOOK FEST is making front page news around the world. Guy stands up on a couch and all hell breaks loose? I'm wondering if TOM CRUISE gives a rats ass what we think. He is an incredible and underrated actor. I think people generally want to see failure and those who have risen to the top they would like to see spiral downward.

So he is with Katie Homes? Big deal; the woman is 27 in December. I don't care if a man is 40 or 60; 27 is a woman; not a little girl. So why the outrage? She is hotter than Nicole and Penelope anyway (Typical guy response).

His performace is rocking. The probelm is that people are generally depressed and miserable and have to try and take down others to make themselves feel better. This is why the world seems 'addicted' to making fun of Tom Cruise; especially the reporters. I mean, can you imagine being a reporter? Not a CNN correspondent which would be cool (props to these people), but an Entertainment Tabloid Type Reporter? OMG what a miserable existence.

I'm a little annoyed at people who are complaining about the ending of this movie (which I have not yet seen). The story ends abruptly in the same way.

Look, folks, think about the context of the story. This is brilliance brought to us by H.G. Wells, who, in the context of his time, is writing about stuff that other people couldn't even imagine. It is akin to Arthur Clark understanding enough about physics to describe communications satellites (before anyone else thought of them) in a work of fiction. Wells totally captures the upcoming character of the age.

If you haven't read the story, you owe it to yourself to actually pick up a copy and take the time to absorb it. Even though Wells writes in a post-Victorian style, he gets under your skin, even today.

If you haven't read the story, or seen the original movie, and are complaining about the ending, you remind me of Maureen Dowd when she reviewed the second Lord of the Rings movie. She hadn't seen the first one, and hadn't read any of the books, so had no reference to relate to. She was repulsed by Aragorn's 'manliness', and thought that it was unfair that the characters just assumed that all orcs were evil. Why couldn't they have given the orcs a chance to live and let live? Oh god. What a maroon!

Haha. To each his own. My own opinion is that Nicole is an extremely attractive and interesting woman, but I like the difficult cases. Penelope is some serious in-your-pants, I've-got-an-embarrassing-bulge kind of woman, but I haven't got much of a handle on her real personality or IQ.

BTW, if you like Penelope, you might want to rent 'Don't Tempt Me', an off-beat latin movie with English subtitles (probably from a play) where she is a sultry fallen angel trying to tempt the last man who counts in a game between heaven and hell. Her competition is a hot older woman who is an angel whose hobby is being a lounge singer in heaven. Very much off the beaten path...

Ok, back to topic, sounds like I need to see this movie in the theater.

You need to see this yes. Dont get me wrong; I dif Nicole and Penelope; but am appreciating Katie.

Totally with the book. It's online too in complete .txt format. Who is this female critic you speak of? I have to google this nonsense

Katie has a funny mouth, Cruz a funny nose and Nicole is an ugly ginger! They are all disgusting...

Don't you agree Coltrain?

I don't have an opinion.

AND

I think I am a pretty wise 22.

The more you learn, the more you realize you don't know anything.

I'm 26, and I'm a completely different person then I was when I was 20, even 22.

Katie is hot in that 'cute' sort of way. I still cannot believe that she supposedly beat out Natalie Portman for the role in Batman. That is insane. Now Natalie Portman is a goddess who walks the earth AND she can act, AND she's very intelligent.... But anyways, haha.

Surf, uh, what? Not good enough. Still want to know why you would call Dakota Fanning's character 'disgusting'.

Of course it is. I acn tell just by you just participating in these forums.

And I agree; I'm 35 and can't begin to realize the wisdom that will come to me in ther next 5 to 10 years; and then 10 after that; and then.........

You know who was wise? My grandmother (passed away in FEB). 88 years old; this woman was a sage.

Katie's was cute, but Michelle is the one who did it for me.

And then with the girl-on-girl action in If These Walls Could Talk II.... Mmmmmm....

Dan

I fell in love with her in Beautiful Girls and have been ever since. She just radiates on screen.

She's an amazing actress, if you haven't seen Leon, Beautiful Girls, Garden State, or Closer, you wouldn't know just from STAR WARS, she didn't have much to work with there. She is the very definition of natural beauty. With no make up and a shaved head she is still beautiful, lol.

I didn't mean to start a Natalie Portman discussion, the Katie Holmes talk just reminded me of the fact she could have been in Batman.

To me, Katie is a good looking, cute, girl. I see girls like her all the time. I guess that's part of her appeal, that accessable, 'girl next door' thing.
