Wanted: Quicktime file from Switcher Output

I wasn't sure where else to put this!

So...I have a production that my company will be producing later this summer. Pretty simple stuff...2 conference sessions over 3 days, in 2 rooms. I'll have a 2 person crew for one room, 2 person crew for the other. I'll probably use either a Canon XL2 or a Sony D35. This doesn't need to be shot in HD. One camera in both rooms. I'll also be using a switcher that we'll use to go back back and forth from the powerpoint to the camera. We''ll be ISOing the cameras too.

What I'd love to do is to be able to output a Quicktime from the switcher to save all the hours of ingesting tapes. I've used a Sony FXe 100 and recorded a MINI Dv master in the past...but I'd like to get past that. The quandary...I don't have a substantial budget...so I'd rather not pay huge costs in additional equipment and cannibalize what I'd be earning in post.

I appreciate any and all feedback. Thank you!

Capture the switcher output into a computer through a capture card or a Firewire interface. AJA, BlackMagic Design, Matrox, etc. make capture cards/interfaces.

The disadvantage is that you need to get the card/interface ($) and have a computer available.

Hey guys thanks for your comments. I hadn't considered the KiPro's. Just looked at their specs on B&H. Looks like 1080i and 720...but it will upconvert a SD camera signal to HD. Interesting. I'd have to see how much they go for and if anyone in town has them. If not I may just see if I can buy a Blackmagic or AJa card on Ebay and maybe sell it after the project. Thanks.
