Wanted: HD camera for Human Trafficking Documentary

Hi guys, I have no idea if there is anyone here who can help us out, but all our contacts that I know here are petering out. Just thought I'd give it a try. (Feel free to move thread if there is a more appropriate place)

Anyhow, November 12th, a small team and I are traveling down to mexico where we will begin a one month journey up through mexico, through the US, and into Canada following the trails of human trafficking in the americas.
During that time we will also be interviewing officials in the various governments who's job it is to deal with this.

The point is that Human Trafficking (modern day slavery) is prevalent today and in our backyards. We intend to tell a few stories of real lives who've been affected by it and offer things that folks can do to help bring about a change.

Awareness to this issue (and other similar ones) has already been raised. There are many organizations who raise awareness, so we hope to use this film to not only continue that trend, but more importantly to offer suggestions and practical things that people can do to help bring about a real change in this area.

THE NEED: For our one month trip, we currently need
- 1-2 HD capable Pro-Sumer cameras. Something with an actual iris/focus ring and built in ND filters for ENG type shooting.
- 1-2 sturdy tripod's appropriate for the cameras to be used in interviews.
- 1-2 camera mountable shot-gun mics
- 1-2 Lavaliere mics and receivers for field use.
- 1 transformer for in-car charging of equipment

Our greatest need is just a camera. We don't have one yet, so even just one camera will get us on our feet.

We're all using our own money for this project and have just enough (maybe) to pay for food and gas, so funds for renting are non existent. If someone is passionate about this topic and has access to equipment I'd love to talk to you. PM me for contact info if you want to talk.

Undercover night time shots? You should look into a camera that can have a night vision adapter mounted to it, look for a cam with decent audio capabilities. Sounds like one of your two cams should be a small stealth type cam?

Chip, thanks for the suggestions, I think we already have our "stealth" button cam/ night vision camera lined up. We've got a guy who knows a guy who will have to kill me if... well you know the drill. Haha. Anyways, I think we've got that angle covered, now we just need the quality cameras for the normal shots type stuff.

Thank you all for your input. We have actually sourced our cameras now. Thanks so much for your incredible feedback, I'll make sure to post more about the project during/after it is done. Thanks again.

If you guys make it to Panama, I'd be happy to show you around, talk to you a little about where to go in Colombia (where so much begins) and even use some of my equipment with you guys while here (lower end HD stuff).

Kind of curious how you hope to capture much real footage, though, I guess with the stealth cam...it could be a little dangerous. I haven't even been able to get small cameras into clubs where people I know own them, just for fun shots, let alone for this kind of thing. Most of the girls would rather not be on camera anything, either, as they tell their mothers they're working as secretaries and bankers...
