Want To Rent in Austin: Handheld 3-axis Gimbal

Hey all,

Shooting a few gigs at SXSW, mostly with my NX1, and a handheld gimbal would make a huge difference for a few of them. Anyone have a 3-axis gimbal like the Ikan/TRD Beholder, Came-TV single, or Nebula 4000 that they'd be able to rent out for Monday the 14th through Saturday the 19th?

Hmmm.... Nobody in Austin comes to mind. In fact, if you need it for a week's rental, you might be better off buying one yourself.

I just checked a couple of the local rental houses, and they don't carry the handheld gimbals. But a local owner/op might be willing to rent you one. Again, I don't know of anyone who has one, but maybe someone will see this thread. :)

You are better off getting you hands on one asap so you have some practice time with it when you get there. Beholder and Pilotfly seem to have the most active communities to get guidance on specific cameras. You can get Nebula 4000 pretty cheap and if you know how to tune it and the NS1 fits it will be a compact solution. Came Single is very easy to set up but might get mixed results since you can't technically tune it without violating the warranty. I'd even suggest checking local sources like Craig List in NYC and see if you can pick up something used before getting down to Austin.
