Want to print to video from fcp using a quicktime file

I lost the original project file through hard drive transferering and deleting things I should not have.

Stupid.

Anyway, professors here only accept things printed to video on a mini dv tape.

I have a quicktime file from when I originally exported the project that I threw into fcp and when I try to print to video all I get is audio and a black screen on my DVX100B lcd screen, but the playback on the computer is everything. If I try other projects it prints just fine so I think it has to do with the fact that it's a quicktime file.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

You need to provide a lot more information before anyone will be able to respond to your problem.

okay, take two.

The quicktime file is 29.97 fps. Exported it with compressor as H.264. Like I said, the original project before I exported it doesn't exist and I need to get this onto a mini dv tape. I put it into fcp and tried to print to tape and all the shows up on the tape is audio with a black screen. I shot it on a DVX 100B and am trying to print to video on the same camera. Also, I can print to video with other fcp projects on my computer.

If I still need more info please let me know.
Thanks.

Well if the footage is on the timeline, and you go to "File" > "Print to Video" > Select "Automatically Start Recording" > Click "OK". You should be good to go.

Also check you AV Settings. Click on "Final Cut Pro" > Click "Audio/Video Settings" > Select Tab "A/V Devices". Make sure the Video & Audio Outputs are the proper selection.

Just gave that a shot still no dice. Not sure how to fix this problem :(
If my dang professor would except a different format this wouldn't be an issue.

You need to set your timeline to DV/NTSC, 720x480 not h.264

Edit- Set the timeline first, then drag the video on so it will letterbox/ re-size as necessary. And don't let it "change time settings to fit the clip" or whatever that message is.

I gave that a shot Tim, but no dice. Still got a black screen while transferring.

I ended up contacting my teacher and telling her my sob story so she is allowing me to use quicktime format to hand in.

Thanks anyway and I'll post if I ever figure it out.
