I was in the town a Banff for a few hours but didn't find it that interesting.
Maybe the Banff Park would be better, I don't know.

My brother did a portage in Algonquin park that sounded cool so maybe the other parks have some tour packages well.

Hopefull you can get some nice wildlife and scenery shots and post them later.

Banff in winter is gorgeous...though it's sorta best to be a skier to take full advantage. There are also snowmobiling treks and snow shoeing hikes in that region with a guide.

Idyllic cabins in the snow can be had so much cheaper right next to you in the rockies.

I haven't price checked it, but my guess is that with gas prices/airfare, etc, that a flight from you to the rockies and a cabin there would be cheaper.
