Hi Everyone, This Might Be A Stupid Question, But Anywhay....

Just Wanna Know If It's Possible For A Nobody To Shoot A Music Video For A, Maybe Not Famous Singer Or Famous One?.

Can I Actually Send My Demo Reel To Their Record Company Or Show Them A Fake Music Video Playing The Singer's Song I Want To Shoot (the Video I Want To Shoot For Them)? Im Asking This Cause I Love Shooting Music Videos And I Have Great Ideas For Famous Singers Out There Like Linkin Park, Frou Frou, Cold Play. Their Music Awakes Ideas I'll Never Be Able To Conceive Listening To Other Styles....etc...( Am I Clear?) Sorry......

How Can They Even Listen To Me?????????????????????????????????

Peace
G.

Matt McDermitt made his own spec music video for Alanis Morrissette's song "Uninvited." It was really good.

Flash forward a couple of years and he's now been hired to direct a new Backstreet Boys video.

Spec work can work if you're really, really, really, really, really, really good!

You got to start by being a somebody first... Go out and start shooting your ideas and build up your resume! If they're good someone will notice! If you suck, then there's always a working security job for Carrot Top. Good luck!

Why does everyone hate on Carrot Top? "Chairman of the Board" will be considered a masterpiece 20 years from now--just you wait and see.

I never got why everyone hates carot top, specially stand up comedians, they hate his guts, I heard he gets alot of good looking women, I'm not a fan but I just wanna know why he so hated... wait this thread is not about carot top... sorry

Carrot Top was never funny. On a side note, I doubt he needs security, have you seen how big he got?

EDIT: Oh yeah, music videos... practice, practice, practice.

Sorry threadjack... For the record, I think Carrot Top has a good sense of humor but that's doesn't stop me from making fun of him.

thanks for the advice, but can you guys really tell me how to make the move? So i shoot a spec music video, then what should i do with it? who should i send it to? the record company, the agent?

PLEASE SPECIFY, AND I DO LIKE CAROT TOP...

THANKS
G.

Firts make sure the video IS close to being better then the original and have a few good music videos under your belt. Not that you think is good but good feedback from filmmakers from dvxuser. Then send them out, I say at the least three good videos.

Take your reel or vid to an agency that represents music directors, or a music video production company (that has there own stable of directors). Before you do, enquire as to whether they take submissions.

For example, here in Toronto we have a company called "Revolver" that produces music videos, with their own directors.

I would suggest building a "exceptional" music video reel, before you take it to them. Also, try to get non-biased industry professionals to critique the reel.

The competition is fierce, so practice, make the work the best it can be, and target your submission for the best impact (know the market, and the type of videos the company produces).

They look more for professionalism, than just a flashy reel.

Cheers.

or... you can ask to do a video for one of the MANY bands who are trying to break in as well

In toronto, I posted an ad on craigslist, and got 10 bands wanting to do a video. Then just go from there... You can get the experience with working with a group, as well as people you don't know.

I'm currently doing a music video for a band here in Vancouver, and they won't be in the music video at all, so I have complete creative control :D

I've met him a couple times down in florida and heard he's gay. So, maybe what you heard was he gets alot of good looking womens' CLOTHES.

Anyone got a link for a webpage with a good list of agencies, production companies which actually make good business doing music videos?

I searched for bands in my local area. Did some vids for free.
Now just done my first signed artist and have another label/band waiting.
Just shoot man.

try to break in a with a new Band.

could abalex send his mvideo to MTV?--i mean does it help?

Sorry, getting off-topic again.

OK while I agree that everything carrot top has done on TV and film is just plain goofy. However, I went to one of his stand up shows, and dude is seriously funny, and I mean can't breath, tears rolling down my face, fell out of my chair funny. See the live show if you can, he just doesn't translate well to film.
