Waking up from being K.O

just trying to find examples of a camera trick where you feel like the person being knocked out and is trying to wake up referee over you everything blurry kind of thing, anyone know of any examples on youtube, maybe from a film clip just so I get the general idea of how to shoot it. Any help would be great cheers

That is very easy to shoot. just get on the ground with camera and do some floating handheld movements. If you need for it to go in and out of focus, do just that. If you need random "black outs" or 'white outs" do it in post. You could have the Camera/Person seeing double or any myriad of cool stuff pre black out.

I see you have a 7D and this would be VERY easy to do. As far as examples I can't think of any this early in the morning. Good luck.

Lensbaby is always a good option.

You should also look into the mesmerizer. Some very slight mesmerizing could be cool.

Or...you could possibly unseat the lens as well, or...a number of things. Look at the diving bell and the butterfly, they do it quite well.

Unseating the lens works well. I bought some old russian primes on ebay, took them apart and used certain lens elements for a super-low budget short.

Here is the test footage. The effect seems to work better if you can put the lens DEEPER into the camera. IE, take the lens mount off and get the rear element closer to your imager. For this particular project I was using a Letus adapter, so I didn't run any risks of scratching my imager with the lens.

Hi Taylor do you have link to vimeo video its not loading on this page, cheers, not sure I understand whats meant by unseating the lens, can this be done on a 7d?

You pull the lens off the mount and stick it back on while you're rolling. It makes the image skew and suddenly go out of focus.

One possible trick, though it's more of an editing trick rather than a camera trick, is to shoot the scene twice and then superimpose one take over the other. This would suggest the disorientation of waking up after being knocked out. Or slow the same take down a bit and superimpose it so that it's a bit out of sync. Then...as the boxer starts to snap out of it, gradually speed it up so that it eventually just becomes one image. There's a bit kind of like this in "The Road Warrior" after Mel Gibson gets injured when his car explodes.
