W     I     D     E

I have Vegas 5 and want to move beyond the traditional square video. I have some raw video content in squeeze mode, but I don't know what settings I should use to create a widescreen window for web viewing.

Let's make it a little easier....

I want to have a window about 320 for the height, and whatever for the width as long as it is not a square.

What settings should I use for outputting to QT or WMV or even AVI?

No need to bother with compression or audio settings, just pixel aspect and such.

Make sure you're in a widescreen project. For QT, render out with a custom aspect ratio of height at 320 and whatever you want the width to be, then choose pixel aspect ratio of 1.00. Experiment with it.

so the width of the project does not really matter? I want to avoid a distorted picture. Should I keep to some sort of aspect ratio? Like 16:9 or some form of that ratio?
