Volleyball

What I need is a volleyball flattened out to apply to a sphere as a texture/map.

And...I would like it to be free.

Not asking too much, I hope. Free is always good, right?

I am using Bluff Titler and I have done this with a baseball texture before like the attached jpg.

I'm just having trouble finding a volleyball.

Thanks, Jeffro

I googled Bluff Titler and I see it can import .obj files. I assume then that you can add textures to it as well. The reason I mention that is because it would be better to use a mesh with a specific mesh pattern and UV layout rather than using a conventional sphere with a spherical or cylindrical texture map.

If you think you could import it and add the texture to it, let me know and I'll make one up for you. Oh, and if so, then post a picture with the style of volley ball you want. There's a few different pattern styles.

And listen up dude. I don't appreciate people asking for help, me offering, for free, then waiting a few days if ever for you to reply. Either you poo pooing need help or you don't. Get on the poo pooing ball man. Put it this way. If it takes you a week to reply to my free offer, I'll take a week to get back to you, if I still feel like doing it. Don't poo poo around man. Get on top of this shi* or post that you have it covered. Cool?

Alright.
Thanks man.

Sorry dude...I was on a multi day shoot in the mountains...

You ever been away from a computer? I was.

At any rate, I appreciate the offer of help. I got things squared away

BTW I dont believe Bluff Titler accepts .obj files.

The texture maps that I have are .png

I've been away from a computer before but usually only when it breaks down, haha. I understand though. I just have zero patience, esp when it's cans night if you know that I mean.

I hate saying sorry, but I'll say it... sorry man. Beer night. I had to laugh at myself in the morning though. No hard feelings I hope. Just went a little over board, lol. poo poo, I'm still laughing at myself.

The google I did sais it accepts .obj files. Maybe look for something like File->Import, just a guess. The png's can be converted to anything. So it would not have been a problem. A 5 min job at most anyways apart from texturing it, depending on what was needed.

Glad you have it covered anyways. Hope your shoot went well.

Take it easy.

Volleyball texture map

I am looking for a volleyball texture/map (flattended out picture) for use in Adobe After Effects. I saw that you were looking for help with one before. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks-

What style of volley ball are you looking for?
Something like this?

And with spherical projection?
Do you already have a model or do you need that too?

I may make a couple up tonight for something else to do.

I don't use AE so I'm not exactly sure what your after.
But here's a spherical map I did.
The volleyball is not technically correct but it's pretty close and gives the impression of a volleyball.
The texture will need some touching up in photoshop at the poles.
Let me know if this is on the right track or not.

And here's how it looks applied to a sphere with spherical projection in a 3D program.
I also applied the texture to the bump channel.

So here's a first attempt at a technically correct spherical volleyball texture template.
The pink areas show some overlap that happened as a result of the projection process.
(Btw, in 3d the volleyball wouldn't normally have spherical mapping. It would just use the UV's that were mapped to the model.
But this is fun to try and figure out. )

And here's how it maps onto a sphere. So, the overlapping would have to be taken into consideration and corrected in photoshop.

And finally after some photoshop correcting here's the template.

And here's how it maps spherically.
So you can use that as a template to photoshop in your final texture.
Well, that was fun.

Lol. 1 viewer. Do you want me to stop posting from now on? lol.
Oooookay. Not a problem.
