voice over

Re: voice over

I'm no audio expert, but there are several microphone options which are USB based, simply plugging into your G5 USB hub. You didn't mention what type you may have, but I recently learned of Griffin's iMike, recommended by Leo Lapporte, (Tech-Guy on radio nationally Sat-Sun afternoons, 3hrs a day....find his site by going to: leoville.com or his LA station kfi640.com--he has links, info, etc.)

He IS an audiophile and also a Mac Guy, too, so I would trust this recommendation.
I think he mentioned it is less than $50. Anyway, check out USB plug in microphones and it may be the way to go.

Good Luck!

I've had quite good results connecting my camera via. firewire and using firewire audio.

Much better results than my crappy USB mics. Maybe give that a shot.

Another option for mac users is to use the m-audio firewire solo:

this plugs in to the mac thru firewire and then you can use an xlr mic (same as you would with your camera).

I bought a condenser mic with a desktop stand from guitar center and it works pretty well.

However, the one thing is, I haven't gotten it to work very well in FCP 5.1 but have had good results in Soundtrack Pro.
