.VOB's into Vegas

I got some 8mm digitized and each DVD has 30min +

I looked into one of the DVDs there is four bigger .VOB files, and the rest seem to be too small...

So I dropped them, but all I get is 10 second clips...! Also, the little footage that I do see does run fine at 30fps, that's what the clip properties say they are... but after a second or two it jumps to something else, then to something else and done... 10 seconds worth? and random jumps...

here is a pic of what's in the DVD

No one can judge by looking at these files. The mess up mustve been during transfer to the dvds. Firstly does the 30+ mins play properly from that dvd on a normal dvd player. If it does then the problem is during drag and drop. If the DVD is in encrypted format they will never ever play well on the vegas timeline. Vobs on the time line itself is a little dicey. Try dragging the vobs onto your desktop and rename the vobs manually to a .mpg extension. Then try them on the timeline. If not the sure fire way is to use a dvd ripper and rip out the dvd into avi which will work 100%. This is always the way its done.

I was hoping someone might know te extension.

Yes they do play fine.

I'll give a try to the renaming! Good idea.

I wasthinking about ripping them... but I'd like to kick the transfer guys in the john if it comes down to that. :)

The only RIGHT way to go about it is to rip it with settings to demux the audio into normal stereo .wav or pcm. Or else the 5.1 sound wont import into Vegas. Im not sure if vegas 8 pro allows import of 5.1 audio.
