Recently I tested the Panasonic DVC60 and DVX100 to determine which camera would be best for our application. The first thing I noticed in the output preview in Liquid Edition 6.0 from the clips shot with the DVX100 was a sort of racheting of the film clip when panning. The camera was mounted on a liquid head stand and the DVC60 did not do the same. At first we thought it was something to do with the DV output but after posting at LE's User Groups and several tests the result revealed that it wasn't the file because the DVC60 was set exactly the same as the 100 and its' results were fine.
Then upon running the tests again, we discovered that the same racheting when panning was apparent in the LCD viewer and thus the output was representative of the capture by the camera. Anyone have any idea what was wrong?
FYI, recently in NYC at the NAB conference a Chroma group had a 100 set up and it was racheting too.
Ideas?
