Hey everyone,

I'm heading out to London for approx. 10 days - will be arriving Saturday morning and haven't really given too much thought about things I'd like to see. Just thought I'd reach out to the community for attractions I should see, hidden gems that tourists might usually miss, etc.

Thanks!

Hi Kegan, check out

- a decent local pub in your area

- Soho

- Covent Garden

- if you can get out of London in a rental car Stonehenge is about 3-4 hrs drive

- nightclubs if thats your thing (London is the club capital of the world, followed closely by Berlin)

- and finally don't called it "London, England" because brits will laugh at you ! :) :)

... and if you want urban hood stuff you can head to my area Elephant & Castle / Walworth / Brixton and PM me for hangouts

If you like old fashioned, English things - then The Houses of Parliament, St Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Horse Guards Parade are a must. On top, have a mooch around the West End - theatre land, with a visit to Covent Garden. Plenty of museums worth a visit it you fancy that kind of thing - and of course, the Globe Theatre if you fancy a bit of how London was in Shakespeare's day. You can walk along the Thames and visit the Tower of London. Lighter attractions include Madam Tussauds which is worth a visit. If you can get out of London - there are loads of things easily within a few hours drive. We're a small country. What kind of things do you want to see?

I went last fall (my wife had a business trip so we were in the financial section of the city) I highly recommend the Tower of London. You can walk around there for a greater portion of the day. I went to an art museum, the Tate Modern. That was enjoyable.

I like Indian food and pubs, so I was in luck. Plenty to be found around the city. Bring a camera, it's a great city to shoot photo/video.

@ Jhoe: you comment reminds me of the Austin Powers movie. "pack my bags, I'm going to London, En-ga-land."

J Davis - Thanks for the tips! We have a London in Ontario, where I went to university...thought I'd clarify ha.

- Great suggestions! I love old, beautiful architecture. Definitely plan on taking photos/video.

Deepfocus88 - Awesome...was planning on hitting up the Tate Modern and Tower of London.

I'd like to get a creative refresh out of this trip. Come back, ready to tackle my projects with renewed vigor!

The parks in London are a great source of inspiration, even in the middle of winter! Hyde park for great sights and vistas. Holland park is smaller and quirkier (it has a small Kyoto garden with peacocks wandering around everywhere). If you want to make a day of it head to Hampstead Heath for the best view of the city. Or rent a bike and cycle along the Thames/Richmond park.
