Visa to shoot in Canada

I've heard horror stories of guys traveling to Canada to film and be refused entry with their equipment. I know they'd prefer companies to hire Canadian crews.
I'll be traveling to Toronto w/ a US based company and I'll be paid by them. Do I need to get some sort of a visa or work permit to film in Canada?

Well, for example I know people that have gone to the States, with a company that has contracted them and they take care of all the Visa/permit issues, etc. You should speak with the US company and make sure that they have all the necessary papers in order before you come over here, otherwise you might get some trouble.
