Virtual Set Software - What's good?

I am "surfin' the net" ;D trying to find some good Virtual Set Software. I am finding some, but I thought it might be a good idea to ask (before I wipeout) if anyone has used this stuff and if so, what's good.

Don't be shy, own up to it if you have ;D. Or at least what you have heard.

Thanks.

Re: Virtual Set Software - What's good?

Nothing I could see on that site but a single graphic which really shows nothing.  Seems like it may be being rebuilt or something.

Basically what I'm looking for are real sets that have been brought into a virtual reality which would allow any camera angles, walkthroughs, anything which could be shot on a real set.  Maybe some limitations, but this is what I hope is available.

So far I've looked mostly at Serious Magic's Ultimate.  Looks promising, but would like to find more footage shot of the different sets to view on-line.

I was going to suggest "serious magic", but I've see you've already found it. If you don't like their virtual sets, you can make your own. Plus they use vector keying, so the green screen doesn't have to be perfect...or even close to perfect! Also, the virtual camera moves are very clean. You don't get those chunks in your video as the "camera" moves into your subject.

We use Maya. Maybe it's a bit more than what you need. It has excellent tools to match live camera moves. It's also expensive, but very flexible. The learning curve isn't that hard either.

wait a sec....i don't understand why anyone would want these 'virtual set's..they look horribly digital and fake don't they? what is their purpose? just for fun?
